Why It Matters

Defending the vitality of our bays, wetlands, rivers, and aquifers ensures access to the abundant and clean water required to sustain our communities, lands, and wildlife. From North Carolina’s industrialized Cape Fear River and Long Island’s development-pressured East End to New York City’s major waterways and the Rio Grande headwaters that supply drinking water to one-third of New Mexico, The Moore Charitable Foundation and its founder, Louis Bacon, have supported efforts to fight the degradation of important waterways and basins through education, advocacy, research, and restoration. We applaud the unwavering dedication and immense successes of our partners.

“Support from The Moore Charitable Foundation allows us to aggressively fight pollution throughout the watershed. This work is improving the Cape Fear River for all North Carolinians, strengthening our environment, our economy, and our quality of life
– Kemp Burdette, Cape Fear Riverkeeper
