On August 14, 2024, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) announced $1.5 million in grants to protect and enhance aquatic and riparian habitats and species conservation in the Colorado River and Rio Grande watersheds. These grants were awarded through the Southwest Rivers Headwaters Fund, a partnership between NFWF and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resource Conservation Service, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Walton Family Foundation, and the Trinchera Blanca Foundation, an affiliate of the Moore Charitable Foundation, founded by Louis Bacon. This investment aims to increase climate resiliency of the vital water resources and ecosystems in the Southwest.
