At the United Nations Ocean Conference in June, the Islas Secas Foundation — an affiliate of The Moore Charitable Foundation — joined a group of NGOs, philanthropic organizations, and governments in contributing to a $150 million pledge to support a marine conservation initiative in the Eastern Tropical Pacific. This initiative aims to protect those unique marine environments by strengthening the Eastern Tropical Marine Corridor (CMAR) through the establishment of a transboundary biosphere reserve covering 193,000 square miles of ocean — an area larger than Spain.
