The Wildlife Conservation Society and its local partners announced it has officially secured funding to develop thousands of additional acres of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in Papua New Guinea. This was made possible by fellow conservation allies, including Oceans 5 and the Shark Conservation Fund, two Moore Charitable Foundation partners. These new MPAs will triple the protected ocean area in Papua New Guinea, and are the first of their kind designed specifically to protect threatened sharks and rays. This is a big win not only for sharks and rays, but for ocean biodiversity, too.
