In a huge win for North Carolina’s abundant marine life, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina ruled that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers violated the National Environmental Policy Act and Administrative Procedure Act in its elimination of seasonal limitations on hopper dredging projects—a longstanding practice that had proven successful in protecting sea turtles, fish species, and other marine life. 

Cape Fear River Watch and the Southern Environmental Law Center—partners of The Moore Charitable Foundation—played a critical role in securing this legal victory, which will help to preserve North Carolina’s marine life for generations to come.
