$5.3 Million Awarded to Protect Longleaf Pine Forests

Through the Longleaf Landscape Stewardship Fund, a total of $5.3 million in grants were awarded to preserve longleaf pine in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. Partnered with the Orton Foundation, the funding awarded through the Longleaf Landscape Stewardship Fund is expected to create more than 15,000 new areas of longleaf pine and preserve an additional 400,000 acres through forest management practices such as prescribed burning.
