Santa Fe, NM – Today, Western Landowners Alliance (WLA), a landowner-led nonprofit organization focused on advancing policies and practices that sustain working lands, connected landscapes, and native species, announced a grant from Louis Bacon’s Trinchera Blanca Foundation, an affiliate of The Moore Charitable Foundation. The grant will help WLA expand its Educational Outreach Program focused on forestry issues on private lands in the West. The Program, which MCF helped to create to advance best practices in forest conservation, centers around educational outreach and information sharing for landowners on forest and rangeland health issues.

There are over 109 million acres of private forest land across the West. These lands face daunting challenges, from water shortages to declining wildlife populations, land fragmentation and ailing rural economies. Now more than ever, there is an urgent need to make changes land use and land management policy in order to secure a positive and sustainable future. With support from The Trinchera Blanca Foundation, the Educational Outreach Program will be able to broaden its reach and improve forest health and management initiatives across the western United States.
