Crystal Coast Waterkeeper

“The Orton Foundation has been critical to the Crystal Coast Waterkeeper program. We look forward to many more years of continued work as we strive to protect and improve the waters of the Crystal Coast of North Carolina.” – Larry Baldwin, Crystal Coast Waterkeeper

Crystal Coast Waterkeeper serves to protect the fragile ecosystems and the watersheds of Bogue, Back, and Core Sounds from the pollution and development of Coastal North Carolina. The rich history of the watersheds, along with a culture of coastal recreation make these areas a magnet for people and threaten the Crystal Coast. Larry Baldwin, Crystal Coast’s Waterkeeper is focused on addressing threats to the area, from offshore drilling to development to pollution. As the former Lower Neuse Riverkeeper (New Bern, NC) and NC CAFO Coordinator for Waterkeeper Alliance, he brings direct action to communities affected by factory farming.
